Connected....wired....all the time

Are we becoming an electronically connected Society all the time?
Rarely only people are seen without carrying a cellphone. Most of the people are hooked on to their computers or radio or ipod or music system or glued to TV.
Conversations, chit-chats, family talk, friendly chatter, sweet nothings etc are becoming extinct slowly.

Even if these things happen some electronic device will be active in the background.
Couples / friends would like to watch TV together, if they have different tastes, sure it will disrupt the harmony among them. One may like only funny / romantic movies and the partner likes only action. They cannot watch it together. But if they sit face to face and just sit....no words spoken, or just say some sweet nothings....well....will they be bored?

I feel incomplete most of the time. Music will be there all the time in the background...rarely only I listen to the birds chirping outside...The last time I saw a complete / clear sunrise was when I went outside early in March to take a snap for my post Sunrise in this blog.

I was in harmony with nature during my childhood. I had enjoyed the cool breeze, beautiful nature, greenery in Iloilo, Philippines.
Now I don't actually enjoy the nature around me.

I really miss my native place.

Fever

I'm not feeling well, feverish, bodyache, tired. I have common cold !

But I tried my best to be fine in my work, controlled myself not to spoil the day.
It's my philosophy to start the first day of the week well, must be in good mood so that the whole week will be all right.

When I woke up this morning I was feeling feverish already sometimes sneezing, still I got up and prepared myself for work.

Good ! today was not really hectic, was able to rest during vacant time until the day ended.

Now, I'm in front of the computer, I don't know what to type. I have a headache.
I can't do anything !

So, will eat dinner and take medicine. No...I have no appetite, I don't like to take medicine !

I just want to lie down and sleep..........

Caught in the door !

I was very happy to see my friends this afternoon.

They went out to distribute fliers for the coming workshop to be held on July 26 - 30, 2008.
When I saw them in front of the apartment, I invited them to come up in my flat for snacks, it was already 3:30 PM.

According to them, the speaker will come from Singapore and for these 5 days workshop is open to everyone. Regarding the time, I'm not sure if it's convenient to everybody it will start at 6 o'clock in the evening until 8 PM. Nothing to be worry about because this is free event and no contribution at all.

We were very glad and excitedly talking when the strong wind came ! All of us shouted "the door!" thinking it would bang loudly... of course can cause loud noise.

Analyn ran to the door wanted to hold the doorknob suddenly her finger was caught in the door ! It terribly hurt her, her middle finger turned into purple and swollen. Ouuchhhhhh......we were all shocked. I asked some ice cubes from Ate Rome, soaked her finger into ice and thought about some basic medicines I had - Efficascent Oil, Omega pain killer, Tiger balm, Vicks, etc.
After soaking her finger into ice, we applied Efficascent oil and gave her an Analgesic tablet.

She was feeling well when they left the apartment. I felt sad for her.
Good that I have these medicines with me.

Bonding with friends

Today was a very memorable day.

I didn't expect I will ever go to a place like "Ratthapum". Ratthapum is a district in Hatyai.
It's a remote area and it takes almost an hour to go there. There's a Christian church, managed by Filipino, Indonesian Pastors and some missionaries.

Some of my friends were going there for a sleepover. Few of us could not stay so we decided to join the daytime activities and came back to Hatyai early in the evening.

We were more than 30 Pinoys and we had three teams, each team (Team A, B and C) got a job to do. Everybody was very cooperative and active especially in playing games.

It was great ! I'm sure everyone enjoyed .

We can do things like this may be only once in our life. It's a big opportunity to work with, to play with our friends, co-workers and other people.

This event I treasure most !

Here are some of our photos and the games we played....

Trip to Songkhla

Today we traveled to Songkhla and I would like to tell you something about this unique and attractive city close to us.
Songkhla is a border province in Southern Thailand, adjoining Malaysia.
Songkhla is known as a principal seaport and coastal post. It is strongly maintains its unique identity of ancient and historical town for tourism.
Songkhla city was formerly named "Sing-ha-na-ka-ra" as well as called by Malay as "Sing-khra or Sing-ka-ra", meaning mountain. Later on, the name was converted to Songkhla.

What we did is, we hired a 'Tuk-tuk' for the whole day trip, so it would be easier for us to go from one place to another.

We left Hatyai around 8:30 AM and the travel took about 40-45 minutes. The day was sunny, very warm it really burnt my skin but it was a wonderful trip and we all enjoyed very well !

Enjoy the pictures.....

Ready na ang mga turistas or lakwatseras???

The Reclining Buddha at Kho Yoh

The park located in the new seaport area, next to Songkhla Lake

There are plenty of archeological finds exhibited in the museum

Khao Tangkuan is the hilltop commanding the best panoramic view of both Songkhla and the Gulf of Thai

Samila beach is well-known as a white sandy beach with shady pine groves

The Great Serpent "Nag" is the deity of the divine creation of water as well as the fertility of all living things

The Sala is located at the end of Leam Son Onn, seaport area

Everyone will recognize Songkhla as Samila because of the statue of a golden mermaid that symbolizes Songkhla

Rat and Cat Islands - this marine landmark, rodent-like and feline shape, is significant symbolizes of Songkhla city

Kao Seng - the beach is characterized by fine white sand with "Hua Nai Raeng" rock, which is the prominent symbol at the end of the beach.

Meditation - it helps really !

Our mind is like a chatter box. It buzzes all the time with thoughts which critically analyze, judge, argue, dissect minutely, add color by commenting....the race can beat marathon !
When disturbed by negative emotions it buzzes like a supersonic jet ! As a result the whole body also responds making the heart beats faster, more sweat is produced, butterflies flutter their wings in stomach and so on. The facial expression changes, some become red-faced clenching and grinding teeth.

Meditation helps in calming the mind. It reduces this troublesome chatter that occurs in out minds.
This makes the brain think in a better, healthy way to produce less harmful hormones / chemical substances thus minimizing stress.

When this troublesome chatter diminishes we will hear clearly God. We will then only know show what are His plans about us.
Then He will show us right and wrong.

Meditation opens the channels to understand God better !

This is my post today.

May God bless you all.....
Let us pray together.

See you, Bye !

Home visitation

Every Sunday I attend the mass in Our Lady of Lourdes church, Hatyai.

It happens today that our priest Rev. Fr. John is going to Italy for 2 months on vacation.
How I wish to have a longer home visit too. But I have to wait till my next vacation.
So after the mass I met him with my friends. He always mingles with parishioners.
Fr. John is leaving for Italy on Wednesday.
Goodbye Father and have a blessed trip.
Enjoy your vacation !
God bless.

Party

July 4, was a great evening for many Filipinos in Hatyai.
There was a get-together party, it was held in The Pubb organized by our fellow Filipinos.
Last month we just passed by there and never expected we will have a gathering there like this.

http://imagestotreasure.blogspot.com/2008/06/hatyai-at-night.html

As I said it was a great opportunity to hang up with Pinoys friends after work especially on weekends. We were able to met RJ, the regular Filipino singer in The Pubb. This talented singer can play saxophone too.
There were a lot of gimmicks like singing, dancing etc.
Many visitors were there, aside from Filipinos - Malaysians, Chinese, Westeners and Thais.
All enjoyed listening to the golden voice of Filipino singers like Jerwin, Jerlyn and Lydia.
We almost forgot the time until we decided to go home at 1 o'clock in the morning.
It's my first time here in Hatyai to hangout outside. Usually I can only stay until 11PM to avoid migraine.
But this occasion I forget my sleeping time hehehehe....
You know already why it was really great....

Here's our group picture...more snaps posted on my other blog
